2008 Q1 - Statistics & Review
Well the first quarter of the year is over and its time for some statistics. Overall the first quarter was hugely successful for Maverick Revolution with the launch of many new services, imgUp, fileUp, columns, and more brought Athena to its full potential. Some of these services, such as columns, has seen little usage, in the form of other users writing, but others such as imgUp have seen almost 100 different users upload many images. Currently we're hosting over 150 images for free!
Our file hosting service, fileUp, was launched on the last day of Q1 as the public beta of our download/upload service offered earlier in March with our hosting of SomethingUnreal's Windows Music on down.mavrev.com. Through that domain, and his files, we've been hit with over 2,500 users downloading files. This is amazing for a site which, only last year, got less than that many visitors in the whole year. We've also served up over 8gb of data transfer free. This is what we'd like to make possible to anyone with our newest service fileUp. As a side note our proxy, while currently in a broken state, has seen steady usage during school and work hours for most of the quarter and we have not had problems since our last optimisation and bugfix in January. A large part of the traffic to sites such as MySpace, Facebook, YouTube and game sites have brought the data transfer total to around 2.7gb. We hope to release a new version within the next month which will be even better.
Just quickly now I'd like to take a look at our general website statistics, for the technical from the domain of mavrev.com/*. In Q1 we had over 4,450 unique visitors, averaging around 1,480 per month. Our visitors are primarily in the United States, however much of the rest of our viewers are from European countries. About 77.6% of our visitors use Windows, the majority XP with Vista in a far second, followed by Mac OSX with about 11.8%, then Linux with about 10.2% and .4% of mainly mobile browsers and spiders. For browsers Firefox takes the spotlight, as I'd hope, with 69.2%, followed by IE with only 17%, Safari with 6.2, Opera with 3.3%, and a mix of Mozilla, Konquerer, K-Meleon, Camino, and mobile browsers. Finally, although I don't have any specific details for our RSS feed, from basic access statistics it looks like there's around 500 people subscribed, although I can't be sure. This is amazing to me since it's not advertised at all on the site. Below you can find some graphs for visitors and traffic. Edit: For whatever reason Vista, yes somebody please shoot me, doesn't understand how to handle PNG files saved in Paintshop Pro and it only lets me upload part of the image... WTF? So, graphs coming if I figure it out.
I'd like to thank SomethingUnreal for allowing us to host his work and helping us get such a great visitor base. I'd also like to thank my friend adam.s for his help in launching both of these services and my friend Michael for his answers to my questions. Finally I'd like to thank my host Adam from StudioDecember for hosting me for all this time.
If you'd like to help support this site and its current and future services please make a donation. Thank you!
